Cycling in Westmalle

Explore the natural beauty of Westmalle on two wheels.

The lush Kempen region is designed for cycling, offering relatively flat paths and breathtaking landscapes that welcome you with flair. There’s a bike route for every type of cyclist, and several cycling loops start or pass nearby B&B De Kasteelhoeve.

We recommend checking out the Tourism Malle website for a complete overview of themed cycling routes. Our favourite cycling route is undoubtedly the “Trappist Route,” allowing you to explore world-renowned Trappist abbeys by bike.

Opt for a unique cycling route along beautiful Trappist abbeys

With a base route of 44 km and a shortened route of 30 km, the Trappist Route offers two fantastic journeys along four major highlights: Trappist Abbey Westmalle, Trappistine Abbey Brecht, Castle de Renesse, and the Lindepaviljoen in Zoersel. The terrain is primarily flat with some semi-paved roads, and the route is marked with hexagonal signs reading ‘Trappist Route.’

Discover the cycling route "From Noble to Notable" starting at De Kasteelhoeve

The enchanting route “From Noble to Notable” starts at De Kasteelhoeve. This 45-km route takes you past two abbeys and four castles: the Castle of Westmalle, Domein de Renesse, Zoerselhof, and Hallehof. Enjoy breathtaking nature and cultural heritage in the Kempen region. The trail is flat and signposted, perfect for any cycling enthusiast.

Plan your route with bike junctions

B&B De Kasteelhoeve lies on the Kempen Bike Junction network, an extensive system covering over 2000 kilometres of signposted paths. Numbered junctions mark intersections, and our B&B is exactly between junctions 50 and 66, allowing you to create beautiful loops ranging from 20 to 100 kilometres. The bike junction map is available for purchase at our B&B, providing flexibility to determine your route based on weather, time, and preference.
